Waterfall Children Teach Thanksgiving

Driving from Kigali towards Musanze, I grab the handrail as the tattered jeep sends us air born in our seats, hitting every pothole along the way. I spot a waterfall and ask Emmanuel, the driver, to pull over to take pictures.   Excited, I jump out of the vehicle to capture the perfect shot. Suddenly we are surrounded by children who appear out of nowhere, peering up at us with beautiful white smiles from ear to ear. Delighted to see Americans, they clammer with words not understood. Thankfully, Emmanuel is Rwandese and translates. Emmanuel says, “The children are thanking you for visiting their country of Rwanda. They are also asking if you have any pencils... read more

Diets Don’t Work Without Jesus Either | Being Obedient to God

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5 When Jesus said nothing, he meant NOTHING! And when we refuse to abide in His ways, we are destined to produce rotten apples. How do I know? I am a poster child for self-driven fruit production. Most days, you might find me swinging from His vine, barely holding on, instead of letting the vine wrap around me with a tight grip. For example, a few days ago, I find myself on my knees, begging the Lord to help me become more obedient... read more

Are We to Condemn the World?

Like many, I find myself deeply troubled by the current state of the world. When we turn on our devices, we’re hit with a barrage of negative commentary from the news, social media, and general conversations. My reaction is to lash out against so many atrocities, but I ultimately want to escape from it all. I would gravitate to more isolation if that were possible amid a worldwide pandemic.  So what is the right reaction? The answer to that is still the same and never changed. Humankind changes but not Jesus, our Lord, and savior. He is today what He was yesterday and will be for eternity. His faithfulness delivers a sanctuary of comfort.... read more

Beautiful Savior, Our Prayer

Beautiful Savior how we long for your ways of righteousness. Flowing is the current that leads us to deeper water. Let us rest in the solitude of salvation and hear our cries. Oh Lord, we must not worry about tomorrow and seek forgiveness when we stumble. Satisfy our hearts today, oh Lord, with your songs of joy and thanksgiving. Shower peace upon us as we torment over mindless worries of troubles that don’t exist. When we carry on this nature of madness we tear down your cross of glory. Give us the treasures that you planned for us. Grant us your ways, oh Lord, for us to vacate the emptiness created by our hidden... read more

Haiti Mission Update: Mission of Hope IT Training School

Haiti Mission Update Tears of joy roll down my cheeks as I share this update on the Haiti mission taking place at the Mission of Hope, Haiti campus. All that I can think about is how good and gracious our God is to everyone. “The Lord is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, and Your godly ones shall bless You.  They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power.” – Psalm 145:9-11 (NASB) For almost ten years, serving global missions has been the catalyst for our adventures with God and growing closer to Him.... read more

Inspirations from the Lord

In my morning quiet time with God I pray for wisdom.  Sometimes I receive inspirations from the Lord intended for sharing… Celebration is a way of life. Be generous in all things. Wake up with prosperous ceremonies. Count the riches of this world and many blessings. Share faith in a positive way of righteous understanding. Families unite for a celebration of rightful sharing and to serve the masses a fruit of righteousness. Be brave on the calling at hand and see how it measures your soul. (See soul sanctification) Surrender hearts of worry. Tackle the torment with tenacity. Share the burdens of tomorrow with the righteous. Peace, be still. Forget the wicked ways of... read more

God is Joy Not Sorrow

God speaks of joy, not sorrow. He knows our pain, but He is not the master of misery. He heals our afflictions not to be steadfast in the quake of suffering. Take up a series of adventurous practices that will harness the joy of the Lord. Be in the moment of tranquility to find His peace among sober festivals. God knows our transgressions and focuses on the passing of many. Preoccupation with conditions of the heart lead to a manifestation of the same. Stand in the glory of His almighty presence and be lifted to new heights of surrender. Practice your peace in the moment of surrender and see how He carries your voice... read more

Turning Back Pain into Empathy

How ironic. Just a few weeks ago I blogged about turning trials into triumph. Today, I’m typing this one flat on my back to share my revelation of turning back pain into empathy.  Sounds like a trial to me! Thankfully, compared to many people, my lifetime contains a few minor injuries, illnesses, and surgeries. Not enough for me to experience long-term chronic pain or physical suffering. Therefore, my pain tolerance is low at the level of “whiny baby” but I prefer to suffer alone so only those closest to me are lucky enough to enjoy the pouting. On day seven, I must admit that my attitude about this discomfort was less than honorable.  Yes,... read more

Turn Trials Into Triumph

During my long season as a “work-a-holic,” I faced multiple trials in my professional career as well as my personal life. Specifically, with my marriage. It’s not difficult to imagine the damage inflicted on a relationship when the number one priority is hyper-focused on work and career pursuits. Gratefully, I’ve learned how to turn trials into triumph. When I look back on bad circumstances or trials, as I call them, I can see situations that were self-inflicted and others that were entirely out of my control or a combination of both. What I find fascinating is the way trials in life shape our future regardless of our role in the affliction. The future state... read more
