Psalm 16 – a guiding message

Spiritual Growth • August 25, 2009

After seeking some counsel from Pastor Jeff, I get the most profound insight from a scripture that he recommended.  The Second Half Journey is certainly a great blessing but if we let our “worldly” thoughts and actions overtake us, we can get frustrated, confused and anxious about the future of this path.  Letting go of that and just letting God lead is the key but I will be honest, it’s not easy at times.  I am so overly blessed by the people that God has placed in my life at the most opportune time, from my family to my church and Pastor Jeff.

I thank God for Greg Murtha at Halftime and so many others with this fine organization and beyond.  I’m honestly not sure if I would make it without their insights and support.  I would like to believe that I would, but I know that its God’s work which brought them all into my life so I gladly accept these gifts from amazing believers.  It proves that when we are ready, He will provide the people, wisdom, treasure and whatever else we need to carry the mission through.  So with that said, I do what I am directed and share this beautiful scripture with you today.

The perfect Second Half Journey message…

Psalm 16:1-11
A miktam of David

Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge.

I said to the Lord, “you are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight.

The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods.
I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips.

Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me.  Because he is at my right hand.  I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure. because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasure at your right hand.
