Careful intentions prevent careless consequences

Careful intention is a winning world of hosts.  It encapsulates our inner views and wonders about ourselves and where we are headed.  Preparations are a critical factor in this life mission of most high consequences and should not be entered into an agreement with lightheartedness.  If you’ve ever wondered about your sanctity, it would behoove you to carry a vessel of sacramental justifications previously mentioned on the mount [see Mathew 5].  Consequences are the very life blood of our deliverance and it’s there for the pleasure of the righteous.  Those who stop on the mount and still do not hear the voice of God will soon perish.  Constant wishes of the void are not... read more

Peace is controlling our circumstances? Not likely…

I heard a wonderful sermon today discussing one of our most common weaknesses as human beings. The explanation was that we believe that we can find peace by controlling our circumstances. Meaning, we think that if we change our circumstances that are not so good in our lives, we will find peace. “How interesting,” I thought and oh so true. So many times I convinced myself that  if I could just change my job, my house, my friends or the city where I live, I could find peace. Surprisingly, I’ve changed jobs over the years, moved to another city and the house and I thought that I gained some short-term peace. As time went... read more

And so we celebrate this resurrection Sunday

Today we celebrate the greatest event in human history. It has become the most significant day in my life. Without this gift, we would continue to roam the earth without the knowledge of an eternal life beyond this. Through Him, we are truly alive… Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion for the world is to look out; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good; and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now. – Saint Teresa of Avila

And this is love…

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.   – 2 John 1:6

Joy to the World 2009

Joy has definitely come to my world.  I reflect on  2009 and I am astonished at how God steered my year.  Never in my life did I expect to go to Africa and yet I did.  Never did I think we would be blessed by meeting so many incredible people here and in Africa and yet we did.  I am so overwhelmed with gratitude for what I’m called to do each day.  When the “joy” is embedded so deeply in the heart, the privilege is to serve.  No more “I have to” – its now “I GET to”.  What a miracle to feel the mind transform in this way and see it happening right... read more

Just answer the call

When we know that God is calling, just answer the call.  When we  know that God is prompting, just answer the call.  It takes a split second for the voice of reason and human doubt to enter in and force us to hang up. When we ask ourselves, “why me?”, we respond with “why not me?”  When we tell ourselves “that’s way to big for me to accomplish”,  we respond with “nothing is too big for God to accomplish, I am just the vessel.”  When we tell ourselves “I don’t have the energy or the drive.”, we respond with “God has equipped me with His power, strength and gifts needed to carry out this... read more

Be Transformed

And be not conformed to this world…be transformed…prove what is good…~ Romans 12:2 As we all know it can be difficult to “not” conform to this world.  If we feel as if we don’t “fit in” it’s probably a good thing!  Conforming to this world means putting many “things” in higher priority than God.  Those “things” will vary greatly by person.  If we allow ourselves to be in bondage to these “things” we only find heart ache and sorrow.  If we free ourselves from this bondage, we empower ourselves to find and live out God’s will instead of our own.  What has you in bondage?  What is your priority in life?  Seek Him and we... read more

A righteous tongue – declaring your splendor all day long…

My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long. ~Psalm 71:8 A righteous tongue speaks to those in a sovereign way to enlighten those who choose to hear the messages of Saints instead of sorrows.  Bearing on the idea that one will come by and listen and not only hear the message but believe in the strength that it carries above and beyond the masses.   Be that it may on the very moment that one realizes he/she is not only on the verge of discovery but on the virtue of the soul.  Standing in the way of a pristine moment like this will only shroud the incomers and marry those on the sidelines. ... read more

Psalm 16 – a guiding message

After seeking some counsel from Pastor Jeff, I get the most profound insight from a scripture that he recommended.  The Second Half Journey is certainly a great blessing but if we let our “worldly” thoughts and actions overtake us, we can get frustrated, confused and anxious about the future of this path.  Letting go of that and just letting God lead is the key but I will be honest, it’s not easy at times.  I am so overly blessed by the people that God has placed in my life at the most opportune time, from my family to my church and Pastor Jeff. I thank God for Greg Murtha at Halftime and so many... read more

The Heart Knows

The heart knows where to lead us once we recognize the process of letting go. Pressures of our conscious and unmistakable memories keep becoming our nemesis. Every day is another opportunity to make a decision about our calling and hear the voice so deep within us that we must act today, not tomorrow. Prepare a heart to do battle, to do song and to be the righteous gift of peace to ourselves and to everyone. The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. ~ Luke 8:14
